CIBSE Young Engineers Network (YEN) Northern Ireland hosted an engaging industry event in April, discussing the future of building services engineering in the country.
The event – titled ‘Building services: the big questions’ and held at the Ulster Museum in Belfast – brought together emerging professionals, established engineers and industry leaders, for an evening centred on the challenges and opportunities facing the profession.
CIBSE CEO Ruth Carter hosted the evening, which featured two expert panel sessions covering a broad range of perspectives spanning consultancy, academia, project delivery and sustainability. Discussions explored topics such as the evolving role of engineers, the skills needed for the future workforce, innovation across the sector and the importance of collaboration in delivering better performing buildings.
The evening struck an excellent balance between being informative, thought-provoking and enjoyable, with strong engagement from panellists and the audience.
It also offered a valuable opportunity for engineers at all stages of their careers to hear real-world insights, share experiences and expand their professional networks.
