IES has released version 2 of its Fundamentals of Building Performance Modeling (BPM) Handbook – a major update to one of its most widely used educational resources.
Designed as a long-term reference for engineers, architects, energy modelers, students, and educators, this new edition offers clearer guidance, deeper technical insight, and expanded content to reflect the evolving needs of the AEC industry and the increasing complexity of building performance modelling.
New topics include:
- Psychrometrics
- Solar and wind
- Thermal bridging
- Overheating and window operation
- Thermal zoning for HVAC design
- Refrigeration
The Handbook is authored by Liam Buckley, Senior Vice President of IESVE Software at IES and newly awarded IBPSA Fellow. With over two decades of impactful leadership in building performance simulation, Liam is also a long-standing educator and contributor to industry standards, shaping how the next generation learns about the integration between building physics, active systems, code-compliance and performance modelling.
