Thousands of households reliant on heating oil across England and Wales will be eligible to receive a grant of up to £9,000 if they switch to a heat pump.
From 21 July, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant will increase from £7,500 to £9,000 for rural households wishing to make the move away from oil.
Around 200,000 homes in England and Wales will be eligible to claim the higher amount, which will go to homeowners looking to replace an oil or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) boiler with an air or ground source heat pump.
The government has also announced £100m to support the delivery of up to 57,000 solar installations for social housing in England this financial year.
