Domestic Building Services Panel migrates to CIBSE

Move will give panel ‘greater visibility, resources and influence’

The Domestic Building Services Panel (DBSP) has moved under the umbrella of CIBSE.

The panel will create a dedicated resource within CIBSE, funded by the DBSP, that brings together 12 member organisations to support the domestic sector with guidance, best practice and technical expertise.

Panel publications, including its established suite of four guidance documents, will now be issued under the CIBSE brand. Further guidance is being developed, including a forthcoming publication on heat pumps and systems integration.

This guidance is designed to support specifiers and technicians involved in the design and installation of heating systems in domestic and light commercial buildings.

In a Q&A, CIBSE DBSP chair Andy Mathews said bringing the panel under the umbrella of CIBSE would give it ‘greater visibility, resources, and influence’.

‘By being part of CIBSE, the panel can align its work with the Institution’s wider mission of advancing building services engineering, ensuring domestic buildings receive the same level of professional focus and rigour as commercial and industrial sectors.’
