Construction output fell by 1.1% in the three months to November 2025, led by a 3.7% fall in private housing repair and maintenance. New work and repair and maintenance also fell over the three months by 1.0% and 1.1%, respectively.
The fall in output was the largest since March 2023, said the Office for National Statistics.
In November construction output fell by 1.3%, with new work and repair and maintenance driving the downward trajectory with 1.9% and 0.4% falls respectively. The monthly fall followed a decrease of 1.2% in October and a 0.3% increase in September.
The ONS said anecdotal evidence suggests delays in work and customer spending were affected by economic uncertainty ahead of the autumn budget.
The economy as a whole grew by 0.3% in November, said the ONS, supported by a rebound in car production following the restarting of Jaguar Land Rover facilities following a cyber-attack.
