The number of applications for homes received by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) over the past three months has been surpassed by the number of schemes that it has determined.

The BSR’s latest building control approval data, which covers February to April this year and was published on 8 May, shows that the regulator received 12,700 applications for residential units.

In the same period, it determined applications for 17,046 units, of which 12,299 (72%) were approved.

Fewer than 20 legacy remediation applications were made in 2024, following operational improvements to reduce average decision times for such schemes, the BSR says.
