Spotlight on smart and resilient buildings at Build2Perform

CIBSE conference stream is part of ElementalLondon taking place at Excel London in November

Future-proofing buildings, climate resilience and smart buildings are the focus of CIBSE’s two-day Build2Perform conference stream at this year’s ElementalLONDON.

Taking place on 25-26 November at Excel London, the Build2Perform stream will be on the Influence stage. The first session, Futureproofing through resilience, will look at how engineers can design and deliver buildings that remain resilient, efficient and adaptable for decades to come.

Also on day one, a session on the future of cooling looks at the Global Cooling Pledge, which commits signatory countries to reduce cooling-related emissions by 68% by 2050. This session brings CIBSE’s TM65 and TM54 expertise to bear on the practical pathways available now, and features Dr Jesus Lizana, associate professor in engineering science at the University of Oxford ZERO Institute.

Day one also features UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard – a year in practice; Heat network zoning – from strategy to engineering reality; Whole-life and embodied carbon MEP – from TM65.1 to procurement; and AI and digital engineering – from predictive modelling to operational optimisation.

Day two opens with Building services for the climate decade, with CIBSE technical director Dr Anastasia Mylona, looking at the professional responsibilities that will define the next 10 years.

Other sessions include: Designing for climate resilience – overheating, flooding and future weather files; Deep retrofit at scale – engineering pathways for complex buildings; Water resistance and public health engineering; Circular economy in buildings; and Grid-interactive smart buildings – demand flexibility, storage and energy as a service.
